Fire Damages Northland Studio Apartments in Gladstone

No Injuries Reported

GLADSTONE — A late-morning fire swept through part of the Northland Studio Apartments on NE 68th Street Tuesday, sending plumes of smoke visible from the nearby Hy‑Vee but causing no injuries, according to officials.

The blaze began shortly before 11 a.m. while most residents were away at work. Fire crews with the Gladstone Fire Department arrived quickly and worked for nearly two hours to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring units.

By 1 p.m., firefighters had the scene under control. Damage assessments are underway, and officials have not yet released information on the cause of the fire.

Residents began returning to the complex early Tuesday afternoon to check on their units. While several expressed relief that no one was hurt, many said they were bracing for the difficult process of assessing smoke and fire damage.

The apartment complex, located just off North Antioch Road in a busy commercial corridor, remained cordoned off as fire investigators worked to determine what sparked the incident.

More information will be reported as it becomes available.
