Four Kansas City Northland restaurant updates. And more--
1. Imo’s Pizza-St. Louis-based Imo’s Pizza will open its first Kansas City, Missouri location at 8502 N. Jefferson St. in fall 2025. Known for its distinctive St. Louis-style pizza, Imo’s features a thin, cracker-like crust topped with Provel® cheese—a creamy, tangy blend of cheddar, Swiss, and provolone that’s uniquely fused into one gooey layer. The cheese, invented in 1947 in St. Louis, is a signature ingredient that has earned Imo’s a cult following across eastern Missouri and southern Illinois. While Imo’s will be new to Kansas City proper, Leo’s Pizza in Gladstone has been serving St. Louis-style pies since 1975, making it the metro’s original torchbearer of the thin-and-square tradition.
2. Also joining the development is Feng Cha Boba Tea, opening in Late 2025 at 440 NW Legacy Drive, next door to the recently opened Thai Orchid. Part of a national franchise, Feng Cha serves a wide menu of bubble teas, milk foam drinks, and Asian pastries. That said, the Northland’s boba scene is already well-established, with Dragonfly Teazone and Gocha Tea earning loyal followings for their fresh ingredients and flavor variety. Whether Feng Cha can measure up remains to be seen.
3. Chicken Salad Chick franchisees, Kendra and Alan Greenwood, are bringing the concept to the Village at Shoal Creek, 8311 N. Booth Ave. A spring 2026 opening is scheduled. They also have the Lee’s Summit restaurant, and they plan to open in Blue Springs in mid-to-late 2026 (but they have not selected a location yet).
