Massive I-29 Car Pileup in Gladstone

April 15th, GLADSTONE, Mo. — A four-car pileup caused major traffic delays on Interstate 29 at the Vivion Road exit in Gladstone today at approx. 130pm.

According to authorities, the crash occurred when a driver failed to slow down in time and crashed into the back of another vehicle, causing a chain reaction. The accident involved a total of four cars, including two sedans and two SUVs.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the accident occurred and quickly worked to clear the wreckage and provide medical attention to those involved.

One person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, while the other drivers and passengers involved in the crash were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The accident caused significant traffic delays in the area, with traffic backed up for several miles on both northbound and southbound lanes of I-29. Authorities worked to divert traffic away from the accident scene, with the Vivion Road exit closed for several hours while the wreckage was cleared.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but authorities believe that speed and driver inattention may have played a role.

As the holiday weekend approaches, authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and stay alert while on the road, particularly during times of heavy traffic. They are also reminding drivers to obey posted speed limits and to keep a safe following distance from other vehicles.

In the meantime, crews are working to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow in the area. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes or to allow extra time for their travel plans.

The Gladstone Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information about the incident to contact them at (816) 436-3550.
