Happy 4th of July from MyGladstone.com:

First things first—if no one’s said it yet…

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, GLADSTONE (and Northland neighbors who pretend they don't read this)!

And of course, a huge THANK YOU to the troops, veterans, and first responders—because without your sacrifice, there’d be no freedom to question, criticize, or even mildly roast the folks running our little corner of the metro.

Here at MyGladstone.com, we like to think of ourselves as the neighborhood’s unofficial (and sometimes uninvited) town hall—where free speech doesn’t just live, it rants occasionally and sips its coffee while side-eyeing a city council meeting.

This happy lil rock offers locals an outlet to express their thoughts—especially toward those who govern the Kansas City Northland. Whether it's concerns about taxes, infrastructure, or the mysterious disappearing act of transparency, we believe in the power of words. Apparently, that belief is not shared by a few officials who’ve taken our expression of free speech a little too personally.

We’re flattered, really.

Instead of responding to criticism with dialogue, some local leaders have chosen to launch a whisper campaign worthy of a bad high school drama. Attempts to discredit this blog, demonize the people behind it, and paint us as “the problem” have become an unfortunate (and frankly, hilarious) sideshow to the real issues we try to spotlight.

But let’s be clear: MyGladstone.com bears no ill will toward any local officials—even the ones who think the First Amendment comes with a filter option. We may throw shade, but we still hope you find the light.

So on this Independence Day, we raise a metaphorical sparkler to the freedom to speak, critique, question—and yes, blog. God bless America, and God bless our comment section (even the trolls).
