A resident reported a suspicious incident early last Thursday morning in the apartments off of North Hickory Street on the south side of barry road. Someone had knocked on her daughter’s bedroom window around 2 a.m.
According to the family, the daughter had just returned to her bedroom when she heard light knocking at the window. After calling out and receiving no response, she went outside and encountered a man dressed in black, with only his eyes and mouth visible. When questioned, the man reportedly said he was “just walking around” and declined to answer further questions.
The individual then walked to a silver SUV, got inside and remained parked briefly before leaving the area. The family contacted police, who arrived within minutes, but the vehicle was gone.
While officers were still on scene, four gunshots were heard nearby. Police left to respond to that call. Authorities told the family the next morning that no additional information was available.
The family has since installed security cameras and is urging neighbors to remain alert.
