In a move that has foodies across Kansas City clucking with excitement, cult favorite restaurant Go Chicken Go has announced that it will be opening a new location next to the new Whataburger off Barry Rd and I-169 with a tentative opening planned for in January 2024.
This latest addition to the Go Chicken Go family is sure to be a hit with locals and visitors alike, given the restaurant's sterling reputation for serving up some of the best chicken in the city. Indeed, the Kansas City Star named Go Chicken Go as the city's top chicken purveyor in 2018, a distinction that has helped to cement its place as a beloved local institution.
The business is owned and operated by two brothers, Bill and Mike Hendrix, along with Mike's daughter Andrea Lowe, and has been a fixture in the community for over forty years. In addition to the new location, the Hendrix family also runs two other restaurants in Kansas City, KS and on Troost in South KC.
For those unfamiliar with the Go Chicken Go experience, the restaurant is known for its crispy, golden-brown fried chicken, which is made using a secret family recipe that has been passed down through the generations. Other popular menu items include chicken gizzards, livers, and wings, as well as a range of classic sides like mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, and green beans.
With its new location set to open its doors in just a few short months, fans of Go Chicken Go are eagerly anticipating the chance to sink their teeth into some of the best chicken around. Whether you're a lifelong devotee or a newcomer to the restaurant's mouth-watering offerings, there's no doubt that the arrival of this new location is cause for celebration.
Vivion Road and North Oak, where?ReplyDelete
they say it will be in front of price chopper where taco beuno was, but I heard that for 2 years now.Delete
It's says 169 and Barry. We're old metro north wasDelete
It is going there, they have owned the property since bueno closed. Just slow and steady and building a strong team for what will most likely be one of their busiest locations.Delete
Article reads like a northland store exists. Only know of I believe 5 locations.ReplyDelete
I live off vision and north oak and it still isn't thereReplyDelete
Vision??? You mean Vivion? I didn't see Vivion mentioned. It says next to Whataburger off of Barry and 169.....so in front of the old Metro North mallDelete
Sounds like Metro NorthReplyDelete
Barry Rd @ 169, area where Metro North use to be.ReplyDelete
I will believe it when I see it. If and I do mean IF, they Actually follow through, that will be really really close to my house ......gizzards for lunch once a week !ReplyDelete
Right??? I'm not holding my breath. When I see the building is built, the "Go Chicken Go" sign is up, and the "Open" sign in the window, that's when I'll get excited. It's been nearly 6 years that I've been waiting for the one at Vivion and N Oak to open. It still hasn't happened. So, pardon me for not getting excited for this one, yet. Haha!!Delete
It appears some site work is about to begin there….ReplyDelete
Great News !!!ReplyDelete
Please bring one to lake of the Ozarks. You'd make a fortune. All kinds of k.c. transplants here'sDelete
I can’t wait for Go Chicken Go on Barry rd to come soon thanks so much for bringing one to the northlandReplyDelete
I have seen the Whataburger going in and there is a Hawaiian Brothers in that location as well. Will see if they put a Go Chicken Go in there. It would be nice if they did.ReplyDelete
I completely agree.. been waiting for them to open in northlandDelete
Lol , yeah, Right !!!ReplyDelete
Do you really think they will build a new bldg in a prime expensive location? Be real. I'd love to be proven wrong 😉ReplyDelete
I'll believe it when it's actually in place been waiting 5 plus yearsReplyDelete
Still waiting for the North Oak and Vivion road to open....ReplyDelete
Coming soon 5 years ago smh
Need one in independenceReplyDelete
There is an open pad site between Hawaiian Bros. and Whataburger in front of Macy's @ 169 and Barry Rd.. I sure hope the plan goes through. Love the livers/gizzard box.ReplyDelete
There is not an Interstate 169.ReplyDelete
Umm yeah there is.ReplyDelete
Not in Kansas City.Delete
I'd really like to see a link to your source for this information. According to the permits that have been posted to FB about the development in the Metro North area, there's nothing showing GCG has any intention of building between Whataburger and Hawaiian Bros. I want it to be true, but I'm very skeptical of this "news". I mean, it's been about 6 years since it was "announced" that there was one being built at Vivion and N Oak. It still hasn't been built.ReplyDelete
There is no I-169. 🤣🤣ReplyDelete
You must not live around here or have access to google maps or even an impossible to refold paper map. 169 hwy goes from downtown ( broadway bridge) past briarcliff ,vivion rd, englewood, barry,152 hwy, 435 , thru smithville, gower and farther north than that.ReplyDelete
Mo 169 is not an Interstate highway. I 29 and I 35 are. I 70 I 435 I 635 I 49 are Interstates. That's what the I indicates.ReplyDelete
